Transylvanian Unitarian Sermons

The statement on the official web site of the Hungarian Unitarian Church (unitarius.org) explains the importance of sermons this way: “The Unitarian worship follows the traditions of the puritan protestants. The centerpiece of the worship is the congregational prayer, but the minister’s sermon also fulfils a highly significant role. The sermon is an approximately 20-25 minute long speech inspired by the Bible. That means that the minister explains the text of the Scripture according to his own knowledge and ability with the goal of making the audience think, and become stronger in their faith. The thoughts expressed in a sermon are not  identical to the wording of the Biblical statement, so they are not true by themselves, but rather, they are crafted so the audience would ponder the thoughts expressed by the biblical statement.”

The web site Unitarian Torch has dozens of Transylvanian Unitarian sermons translated into English. The sermons originate from the 16th century through the 21st century.
