1. The Házsongárd cemetery is a short walk away from the Dowtown (Belváros) Kolozsvár Unitarian Church. In this historically Unitarian cemetery you’ll find peace and solitude that allows you to pay your respects at the graves of many greats of Transylvanian Unitarians.
The Hungarian Unitarian Church published the location of Unitarian graves in Házsongárd cemetery: “Unitáriusok a Házsongárdi temetőben” by Gaal György; Kolozsvár, 2018. He writes: “For the Hungarian Unitarian Church this cemetery has a special importance. Kolozsvár is the seat of the only Unitarian bishop. So all the church leaders were buried here. The most important Unitarian College, dating back to 1557, is still functioning in this town. Up to the middle of the 20th century all the Unitarian ministers were trained at the theological courses of this College. Also, a great number of of Unitarian men of letters, scientists, and professors are buried here. In 2004 the Hungarian and European Heritage Council from Budapest declared the Házsongárd cemetery part of the Hungarian cultural heritage.”
